Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach

Al Brunelle – Back Disaster
Dawn came early. I slept only a few hours and had to get up. Fog hung over the area like an angry blanket. It was cool out. Misty. I walked to a store and bought coffee. My one small luxury in life. The others were deep in sleep. I edited and worked on a few things. Once the crew was up, we got rolling. Breakfast. Coffee… the usual. Jonny had everyone over by Pismo at the skate park and we quickly joined in the fun. Yesterday was the racers turn to shine. Today… it was Daniel & Al’s turn. They didn’t disappoint!
Daniel Cuervo – front rock
The locals stood open-mouthed in admiration as these two guys ripped the pool a brand new one! A few joined in and a session ensued. There was a pretty decent crowd and the local park police were pestering about pads. Our boys lit it up regardless. Al took the place apart and Daniel’s invert fakies were awesome.
George McClellan- shallow 5-0
Jason Mitchell – invert
Steve Siz – 5-0 to tail
Daniel – invert fakie
We headed over to the beach, as Jonny had set up a surf session. Wet suits, surf boards and everything were available. It was overcast by the sea. The ocean was grey and murky. I wondered about what lies beneath.  I was reminded of huge grey shapes, muscled flanks, teeth and blood. Sharks of my dreams. Things of primal horror. I wisely kept my thoughts to myself…
Pismo
Jonny’s crew
Sean from Gravity was ripping.
Daniel Cuervo, Al Brunelle and David Hackett
George McClellan – quite the host and OG ripper.
We ended the day at George’s house. The UFC fight was purchased on pay-per-view and a BBQ was readied. We feasted, looked through old photographs and talked like all skateboarders do. History. Stories. The nuances become exaggerated but the essentials remain the same. It doesn’t matter if the story is all true. It’s simply important that we continue to tell it. Thanks to everyone for a great day. Skate- Ozzie
